About Our Maple Syrup

As a second generation Vermont farmers, our small team takes pride in being a stewarding the land and producing the best maple syrup that Vermont has to offer.

Our Maple Syrup Farm in Grafton, Vermont

Spring Hill Farm maple syrup comes from our 300 acre sugar bush located on our Grafton, Vermont farm as well as from a few other sugar bushes located in the town.

From caring for the land, pruning the trees, tapping, collecting, boiling and bottling the maple syrup, to hand packing each order that goes out the door, our products truly come straight from our hands and heart to people’s homes.

Each spring the sap is collected and the syrup is reduced down in our hard-working evaporator to produce maple syrup.

What are the different maple syrup grades?

The different grades of syrup come from the different amount of time the product spends being reduced down. This gives us the natural sweet flavor of maple with some variety.

Amber vs. Dark Maple Syrup

Amber with rich taste (previously "medium amber")

A light amber color and full-bodied flavor, Amber Maple Syrup is the product of choice for consumers who desire the classic maple syrup flavor. Amber grades are made earlier in the sugaring season, and their smooth, well-rounded taste makes them a versatile (and delicious) kitchen staple.

Dark with robust taste (previously "dark amber" or "Grade B")

With a darker amber color and a more pronounced, deep maple flavor, Dark Robust maple syrup will satisfy those consumers looking for syrup with a rich, almost brown sugar-like taste.

Ways to Use Maple Syrup

Here in Vermont, we'll take our maple syrup straight from the bottle. But we also love to incorporate it in a pretty much all the recipes we whip up in our farmhouse kitchen.

Maple syrup can be used on just about anything, but some of our favorites are...

  • Pancakes
  • Waffles
  • French Toast
  • Fruits
  • Ice Cream

As a natural sweetener, maple syrup is delicious in coffee, cocktails, and tea. It can be substituted in place of white sugar in baking. We also love using in as a glaze for salmon and barbecue. The possibilities are truly endless!
